And learning blossoms through play.
At LICFD, we aspire to provide a community that resembles the comfort and ease of being away from home. When LICFD originated in 2008, we envisioned a culture of friendship and love. In an atmosphere that makes it easy for kids to see each other as life-long friends rather than just someone they see at daycare. With this connection, we believe that our kids will form bonds, consequently making their daily experience at daycare memorable. We also wanted to incorporate an
environment that created healthy habits in our kids. We believe by providing healthy meals, a clean environment, and an abundance of outside play, every child will flourish and grow. Equally as important, we believe that each child should be treated with kindness and respect. By encouraging our children to express their ideas and thoughts through art, music, and verbal expressions, we would help to raise happy confident children, who will advocate for themselves
and others.
After 15 years of following our mission, we are faced with new challenges, but always stay true to our core values, the ones that have fostered our connection and growth over a decade.
Arts & Craft 101
We will utilize the surrounding neighborhood art galleries to help inspire our art creations. We will recreate what we have seen during out nature walks by building collages, using colors and shapes, paint and our imagination.
Music & Dance 102
Music is an essential part of of learning, and dance makes is fun too. Our Friday Dance Party has become a ritual. Our children look forward to our Dance Party of Friday's, where they dance and jump to their favorite songs and their own rhythm.
Simone Says, Hokey Pokey, and Twinkle-Twinkle Little star are some of our favorite nursery rhymes.
Storytime 103
Everyday we will read a few stories. We will talk about the story and what it means. Each child can also bring their favorite book from home to share with their friends.
One of our favorite story time practices is continuing to read the same book for the duration of the week. This is a magical week's journey because the kids have to wait to find out what happens next.
Essential Learning
Let's not forget our ABC's, 123's and our shapes. These are all a part of our everyday activities.
Urban Gardening
An introduction to plants and flowers. Children will learn the basic elements of a plant. They will learn how to care for a plant and the importance of water and sunlight. We will plant seeds and observe what happens as it grows.
Little Chefs
We can cook and eat it too.
1 cup of water + 1 cup of water = 2 cups of water. What a great way to get our children interested in arithmetic.
Circle Time
Circle Time occurs in the morning after breakfast. The ideal time for us to discuss what we have planned for the day. We can share an idea, a thought, a song, anything at all.
During this time we will recite the days of the week, our ABC's and 123's. We will decide what story we will read later on that day. During this time, we will also engage in our daily exercises.
Exercise
As part of Circle Time routine, we will engage the children in fun exercises such as jumping jacks, Simone says, going through the tunnel , duck-duck goose and some stretching.
( touching toes, standing on one leg).
Free-play and Pretend Play
An important part of learning is giving children the freedom to feel free and unrestricted. During this time our children are allowed to play dress-up or any activity of their choice.
